Classes
Our studio offers many beginner classes in both wheel and hand building techniques. These are perfect for folks who are ready to begin their journey in ceramics and working with clay.
If you’re just wanting to dust yourself off from a long hiatus or want to challenge yourself, we offer intermediate wheel, hand building and portrait sculpture classes.

Learn the basics of “throwing” on a pottery wheel in this course. No experience necessary! In this course you will learn the process of creating art on the wheel from centering to glazing and how to create cups, bowls and other forms: perfect forms to start your wheel throwing journey!
CLASS DATES: April 14, 21, 28. May 5, 19
You will have five lessons within a six week period to allow us to fire your pieces.
All tools, glaze, 25 lbs of house clay and equipment provided.
Five free open studio sessions included with each class

Learn the basics of “Hand Building” the practice of creating ceramic art and functional ware without the wheel! This sculptural approach to working with clay offers limitless creations. In this intro class you will learn the basics of slab construction and coil building to create geometric vessels like boxes and coil built vessels like planters or hollowed sculptures. This approach to working with clay offers limitless creations!
CLASS DATES: April 15, 22, 29. May 6, 20.
You will have five lessons within a six week period, to allow us to fire your pieces.

With 12 wheels, several large work tables and plenty of storage space for your in-progress works, you can work at your own pace and enjoy the full use of our facilities.

Wind down your week with good friends, good drinks and clay. Handmade Happy Hour is a perfect Friday night destination for you to kickstart your creative energy for the weekend with our fun wheel and hand building workshops. (21+)

Workshops
Pottery with personality! In this 4 hour hand building workshop, you’ll learn how to create vessels like mugs, pots or vases using hand building techniques along with sculpting techniques to add facial features.
Open to all levels and beginner friendly.
All materials and tools provided. Includes firing.
Youth 10+ are welcome to register with a registered adult.
Studio Manzanita is committed to celebrating diverse craft techniques and practices. In our weekend workshops you can learn new mediums, take 2 day intensives on a specific technique, or try a one-time drop in session on the potters wheel or hand building.
Printmaking and Ceramics collide with this mixed media workshop! Learn how to design and carve your own unique rubber stamps to create impressions into clay or to add repeating patters with underglaze.
In this 4 hr workshop, the first half is all about printmaking! Participants will start by learning basic block printing methods through drawing out their design/s on a rubber block and carving it using gouges.
In the second half, you test out your stamps on clay! Create some hand built vessles or flat slabs to decorate with your rubber blocks!
Open to all levels, beginner friendly!
All materials and tools provided. Includes glaze and fireing.

Get your hards dirty with this family friendly workshop! Create your own unique flower pot and saurcer using basic hand building techniques friendly for small and big hands a like.
